Build your first outline

An outline begins as a list. Hierarchy appears only when it helps.

1. Begin with the top-level thought

Open Thortiq Outline and add a short line that names what you are thinking about: a project, meeting, question or area of responsibility. Keep it brief enough to scan.

2. Add the next level of detail

Add another line, then indent it to make it a child of the item above. Children can hold actions, evidence, questions or another layer of structure. Outdent whenever an idea belongs higher up.

3. Focus when the outline grows

Zoom into a branch to treat it as the temporary root of your workspace. This keeps a large outline calm without losing its wider context.

4. Let structure stay flexible

Move, indent and outdent items as your understanding changes. The outline is a thinking surface, not a filing system you must design in advance.
